Peace and Governance Program
PACIDA believes that respect for human rights will help lift people out of poverty and injustice, allow them to assert their dignity and guarantee sustainable development. The peace and governance program is mainly geared towards facilitating justice, democracy, conflict resolution, peaceful co-existence and ultimately good governance and leadership in the region.
The ultimate goal of PACIDA under this program is to promote peace, good governance, respect for human rights and sustainable trust and harmonious co-existence in the region through community based structures and strategies, civic education, stakeholder engagement, facilitating conflict resolution, mediation, promoting service delivery and strengthening of local community governance institutions.
Some of the issues/problems that PACIDA aims to address under this program include human rights abuses, corruption, lack of citizen engagement, policy gaps, bad governance, public resource mismanagement, insufficient infrastructural investments, divisive clan based/biased politics, prevalence of cheap arms and resource based conflicts among others.
